NEERALAYA IN SUMMER
When roses, lilies, daisies, acelias, agapanthuses and the many wildflowers found only in Uttaranchal carpet the landscape around Neeralaya, you’ll know summer’s arrived. It quickly turns the blossoms on the fruit trees into sweet and juicy loquats, nectarines, plums, apricots, peaches, apples, walnuts, persimans, pecana and kiwis. Then the race is between the birds and you – whoever gets to the ripest fruit first, gets to eat it.
Since, summer is also the season of melting glaciers, white water rafting is quite popular at this time of the year. Treks to the waterfalls, the nearby temples and apple orchards are delightful summer pasttimes. If the day gets too hot, you can always just stretch out on the grass watching the tribal shepherds leading their herds higher up the mountains in search of greener pastures.
